Tech Fuel is more than a pitch competition. It’s a platform designed to spotlight high-potential startups, connect them with seasoned judges and the broader tech ecosystem, and provide non-dilutive funding to help founders accelerate what they’re building.

What Is Tech Fuel?
Tech Fuel is a startup pitch competition presented by Tech Bloc, a nonprofit focused on growing and connecting the tech ecosystem across San Antonio and Central Texas. The program is sponsored by the Bexar County Economic Development Department and awards $100,000 in total funding to participating startups.
The goal is simple but powerful:
Shine a spotlight on San Antonio’s startup ecosystem
Attract attention from outside the region
Strengthen local founders so they can compete nationally and globally
What’s at Stake
Tech Fuel 2026 offers $100,000 in total prizes, including:
$50,000 — Judge’s Grand Prize
$20,000 — Innovation Award
$10,000 — Audience Award
$7,500 — Honorable Mention
$2,500 — Awarded to each finalist
1-year Tech Bloc Startup Membership for finalists
Beyond the funding, finalists gain visibility, credibility, and exposure to judges, investors, and ecosystem leaders.
How the Competition Works
All applicants submit a written application
Approximately 35 startups are selected as semi-finalists
Semi-finalists are randomly placed into five groups
Each startup delivers:
5-minute pitch
5-minute Q&A
One finalist from each group advances to the final round
Finalists then pitch in person to a panel of judges at the culminating Tech Fuel event.

Semi-Final Judging (Virtual): April 2–3, 2026

Geekdom 3-Day Bootcamp: April 10–12, 2026
Final Tech Fuel Event: April 20, 2026
The final pitches will take place in person at the Weston Center Theatre at the UTSA School of AI, Cyber, and Computing.
